I seriously cannot believe it.  When did that even happen?  It seems like just yesterday I was having a meltdown over you turning six months old.  I bought myself a doughnut that morning.  Today I might need a whole box.

Karlyn, you bring your daddy and I so much joy.  We have a hard time remembering life without you!  I am loving this age right now.  Here's what you're up to~

Your meals may not be the most nutritious these days.  You stopped liking vegetables and still love Annie's Mac n Cheese.  You also like, grapes, bananas, pineapple, eggs, puffs, yogurt with pumpkin, beans, and the little Gerber ravioli things.  Ok, so you're still getting some good stuff.  But what happened to veggies?!

You eat 3 meals a day and drink 3 bottles.  Do we nix the bottles soon?  I've been wondering.  You sleep from about 7:30 or 8:00 to 7:00 and you love going to the sitter's each morning.  Your vocabulary has been taking off!  Here's what you can say:
  • Mama
  • Dada
  • Baby
  • Bye Bye
  • Dodger (Dar-Dar)
  • Night Night
  • Tree (Tee!)
  • Uh Oh *this is my fave and the cutest!*
  • Pa Pa (you only whisper it)
  • Nona
  • and you say "Bo Bo" which I think can mean banana, or just a snack in general
We know that once you really start talking, you're not going to stop.  You have a favorite book now that we absolutely must read before bed every night.  You look for it and point to it once you're through with your bottle.  It's called, "Welcome to Your World Baby."

Your hair is getting longer in the back but you still don't have a lot. :>  You walk all over this house and try to sneak into the bathrooms where you've (more than once) stuck your hand into the toilet to splash in the water.  #RealLifePeople.

You like to hold mommy's phone or a tv remote and act like it's a phone.  You hold it up to your ear and say something that sounds like hello.  It's adorable.  You still use a paci to sleep.  You're wearing size 12-18 month clothes, size 4ish shoes, and we just recently put you into size 5 diapers.  You get crazy silly at night and can't walk in a straight line.  It's pretty entertaining.

You're into everything.  You're always on the move.  We're saying "No No" more and more...you're starting to repeat it.  You have 7 teeth, and are working on the 8th.  4 on top, 4 on bottom!

Karlyn, mommy wanted you so, so, so badly for several years.  And the whole time I was not-so-patiently waiting, I think God was trying to tell me.  He was whispering...just wait.  You have no idea.  I'm going to give you a little girl that's so incredibily stinkin wonderful that it'll blow your mind.  You won't care that you had to wait.  You won't wish you had seen her sooner.  You'll know.

You'll know that the timing was perfect and that she was a gift straight from heaven sent to one young couple who won't know what they're doing but they'll figure it out.  They'll make mistakes and do the wrong thing, and try their best.  And they'll love this little girl with all their hearts and she'll make them smile and make them sigh.  And then she'll make them more into the people they're supposed to be.

Oh.  And you started giving kisses last night.  IT. WAS. SO SWEET. I can't possibly love you any more!

We love you sweet girl.  Happy 1st Birthday!

Love, Mommy and Daddy
