Stranded

OH my gosh.  This is too good not to recount.  It's 8:15.  I left work tonight at 5:15.  I made one stop on the way home.  It took 2 minutes.

GUESS WHAT I DID THE REST OF THE TIME???!!!!!!!!!!!!

I SAT.  On I-30.  It was awful!  Apparently a semi had caught on fire and 30 was closed. shut down.  no can drive thru.

So I sat.  And sat.  And sat.  And stood.  I started feeling claustrophobic so like my fellow distraught non-drivers, I shut my car off and sat on the highway shoulder railing.  Or I walked and tried to see what the HECK was going on down there.  I called Ryan and told him to watch the news or look up online to see if they had an estimate of when traffic might start moving again.  Nothing.

Uggh.  I listened to the radio.  I leaned my chair back.  I ate some crackers and peanut butter and wondered if I might have to ration the rest to last me through the night.  I wrapped my jean jacket around me.  I couldn't even kill much time on my phone because my battery was low.  And I don't have a car charger.

It started to get dark.  And cold.  I contemplating walking down the highway and seeing if Ryan could pick me up.  People were walking back and forth, back and forth.  Ryan called and said as soon as I made it home we were going to eat Mexican food with his parents.  I was getting ready to eat my arm.

FINALLY!!  Something was happening.  People began starting their cars!!  Hooray!!!  We started moving!  After 2 hours.  I cranked on the heat and praised the Lord.  It was slow going but hey at least I wasn't PARKED.  We started making our way down and I knew I was going to make it.  Phew.  Ryan called and said there was traffic heading to the restaurant too so I said, that's ok.  I swung through Taco Bell and ordered the first thing that looked good:  A supreme chicken chalupa and a crispy taco.

I got home, hit the bathroom, then chowed down.  It wasn't that great but I didn't care.  Taco shell was stabbing me in the cheekI didn't care.  I was eating.  And I was home.  Ahhh.  I have on "What Not to Wear" now and am THANKFUL to finally be home.  Even if Ryan's eating a nice mexican dinner as we speak  :(

** I do  have to say...there was a bright spot at the end of all this.**  I got home and found that I had a baby present to open!  From my sweet, sweet friend, Catherine!  It was wrapped up so cute and it made me smile.  She picked out a cute BOOK  (I have desperately been wanting some) so I can read to Karlyn!  Yes, even though she's not here yet :> And...an adorable little brown and cream outfit that is just so stinkin cute!  It totally make my night.  For.  Sure.  THANK YOU CAT!!!!!

And now friends, I'm going to relax.  And enjoy the last 2 hours of my Friday night.  It's gotta beat the first half.

Oh my gosh! That's TERRIBLE! You never know when or where something like that is going to strike, and getting stuck in it is just the worst. Glad you finally made it out of there!

My parents were on their way to our house, and called to say I-30 was backed up and asked if they could exit off and still make it to our house fairly easily. They hadn't passed Ridge Rd yet, so I told them to take that exit. It still took them more than an hour to make it from there to our house since every other car that could, took that exit as well. At least they were moving though. I'm so sorry you got stuck in that back-up. That would have been awful!!!
