Resolutions, Take 2

Ugh.  You know what I really hate?  When I have a post all written and ready to go, I try to publish it, and somehow it disappears into the blogosphere!!!  I think it was because I was trying to post it from my phone, UM, WHICH I'VE DONE BEFORE SUCCESSFULLY.  That's ok.  I have plenty of free time to write the same post twice.

Here we go.  Take II.

I made 2 New Year's Resolutions for 2012.  Only after reading an article from this site, I decided to call them habits instead.  The thing with habits is they tend to stick around.  Kinda like brushing your teeth.  You know you need to do it, so you do.  Then one day you can't imagine not doing it and before you know it you want to do it.

Do something for 30 days and it's bound to at least have made an impact and you just might remember and want to do it for the next 30 days.  Last year I made 10 resolutions.  But I kinda got busy learning how to be a mom.  I'm cutting myself some slack.  Without further ado, here they are!

1) Read my Bible every day.  I didn't set a time or chapter limit.  I simply want to open my Bible every single day and read something.  It's not that I don't enjoy reading my Bible or know that I should spend time in the WORD; I just quite honestly haven't made it a habit.  My Beth Moore Bible study is helping with that and the more I read, the more truth, conviction, and new life is breathed into me.

2) Write a letter to each member of my immediate family, once a month.  This is something I've wanted to do for the last several years but just haven't made time to.  I want my family to know how much they mean to me and who doesn't love getting a hand-written letter?  Ok, so my brothers may not squeal with delight but they can get over it. :)  I wrote down each person's name and threw them into a mug for drawing purposes.  I won't say who I drew first because they may read this before the letter arrives.

So those are my 2012 habits I hope to form.  So far, so good!  I like having just two.  If your read more from this site you'll see how sometimes NOT setting as many goals, resolutions, etc can often free you up to be even more productive and actually do the things in life you love.  It was a novel idea to me.  Less rules means more results!

Do you have any 2012 resolutions you'd like to share?  I'd love to hear them!

Those are really great habits! I am on a mission to simplify my life this year. Mentally and physically by getting organized and cleaning out the clutter.

And Shannon, you can totally run a 5k. :)
