Life Lately

Well hello there.  Thought I'd, ya know, check in on the blog and all.  I took a nice little 2.5 week hiatus and it wasn't even really on purpose.  After Karlyn's birthday, my life quickly became a whirlwind of Christmas shopping, cooking/baking, wrapping, New Year celebrating, football watching, and oh yeah, I got a cold that started Christmas day and lasted till about 36 hours ago.  I never knew how necessary and glorious it is to be able to breathe through one's nose.  Oh.  And I did end up using my Neti Pot.  No sign of brain-eating amoebas yet...

I've seriously had so many blog posts floating through my head but just haven't sat down to do it.  While I'm tempted to go back and re-live Christmas and tell you all about the wonderful festivities that were had, if we're friends on facebook, you've already seen my Holiday pics.  If we're not friends, you probably don't care anyways. :-)  I may throw out a few highlights with some pics...we'll see.  Of course, there's the obligatory "New Year's Resolutions" post but don't worry; I've got that covered too.  Except I don't have any.  They're called HABITS this year.

So what's been going on?

Ryan is doing really well!  He's gained a solid 10 lbs back which we're both thrilled about.  He goes back on January 16th for a follow up CT scan.  He's back in the gym and his appetite has skyrocketed and those are both very good things.  We found out too that his office is moving this summer.  We're not though :>  It will just make for a longer drive for him.

Karlyn has been her adorable little self as usual and even though a runny nose crept in a few times, she never got full-on sick over the holidays.  Thank you Jesus!  She got sooo many new clothes and toys for her b-day and Christmas so she's been having fun playing with those.  And yes I'm that mom that has set some toys aside to bring out later for new, post-January wow factor.

Me?  Like I said, I'm just thankful to be well right now.  I've been experimenting with some new Paleo recipes that are pretty darn scrumptious and also trying to get back in the gym.  I lost ground from being sick and not going so I'm trying to work my way back up.  I'm beginning a Bible study with girls from church on Sunday that I'm looking forward to.  My "office" is still a wreck from December.  I want a new blog look.  Again.  And I'm only slightly weirded out to say this but I've really been enjoying my job lately.  It's a good fit.

Ryan and I have been talking about this some and I don't know why but it almost scares me to say this.

I'm just really enjoying life right now.

Sometimes I feel like as a Christian that I shouldn't say that.  Messed up huh?  Like I think I should be suffering more, or waiting for the next crisis to hit.  It feels a little cocky to say yeah, things are going good right now.  I have a great marriage, a wonderful kid, a good job, a comfortable place to live, and amazing family and friends.  The Bible says, to everything there is a season.  And I like the season that I'm in.  No, it's not perfect but I think it's OK to be OK with where you're at.  Where things are at.  And enjoy it.  And relish it.  Our pastor has once said that every person is either coming out of a storm, in the midst of one, or heading into a storm.  I'm not trying to be naive.  I just feel happy.

I'll be back with more!

I love this post! And I really love that you're content with this season of your life; I think that's a really important thing that's easy to miss.

And yes, we should hang out soon. Pretty please?? I'm done with soccer on the 17th. Hit me up :)
