1 Month !!!

Karlyn.  I can't believe you are 1 month old today!!

It seems like we were JUST sitting here, making sure we had our bags packed to take to the hospital.

And I can tell this post is going to take a while because I keep getting distracted by looking over at you in your swing.  You're so stinkin cute.

And you're getting big!  Seriously, every morning I pull you out of your Fisher Price Rock 'n' Play and think, who switched out my newborn in the night with this bigger, older baby??  Not that I didn't see you multiple times in the night for feedings, but still.  It could have happened.

At 3 weeks and 1 day, you weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces, almost a full pound up from your birth weight!  I don't think you're a fan of getting weighed at the pediatrician's though because you've peed on their scale now twice.  I know you were just trying to make an impression.

Here is some of what you're up to these days:

Sleeping:  You love to sleep.  You can sleep in just about any position but you mostly prefer your bassinet, your pink vibrating bouncy seat, and on any human, particularly daddy.  Daddy loves to pick you up in the early mornings when you're crying and let you sleep on him.  I told him this doesn't need to become a habit :>  But you LOVE it and so does he.  You make sweet sounds while you sleep sometimes too.  I think it's when your eyes are closed but you're still trying to drift off...with every breath, you make this adorable little "hah"...sighing sound that is so cute.  You can be a loud breather too when you snooze, which you get from your daddy.

Eating:  You're eating like a champ, and pretty regularly about every 3 hours.  Sometimes at night you go longer, which mommy LOVES.  Let's get back to that.  Sometimes it is SO hard to get up at night to feed you but then I see your sweet little face and don't mind quite as much.  You refuse to burp.  You just won't do it!  You also make this disgusted face about half way through, suddenly...like the milk you're drinking has just changed to root beer.  And you make these silly little warthog sounds in between eating.  Well, it's a cross between a warthog and a football player when you go....hut, hut, hut, hut!  At least that's what it sounds like.  Little machine gun baby sounds :)  The first 2 or 3 weeks, you would get the hiccups every single time after eating but now it's only once in a while.  It would be dead silent as mommy and daddy were trying to go back to sleep when we'd hear:  hiccup!  Too funny.

Playing:  So you don't really play that much but you do like the occasional tummy time or laying on your back in your crib, listening to your mobile.  You'll stay in your swing for a while and we've taken you on 2 stroller walks when it wasn't freezing outside.  We've also given you a couple of "real baths" that you didn't seem to mind too much.  And mommy loves smelling your sweet shampooed head when it's over.

Here are some other cute things you do:

You make crazy faces - you furrow your eyebrows and look confused and you make "crazy eyes" where they roll all around.  When you're startled, you throw both hands up beside your head...I think I've caught a smirk from you a couple of times but I know they weren't intentional smiles.  You POOP all. the. time.  I know you're my first child but you are the poopingest baby I've ever seen.  I told daddy he needs to buy stock in Pampers.  Speaking of, you're still in your newborn diapers but daddy remarked today that it probably won't be long till you're out of those.  Your nb onesies are fitting snug around your "buddha belly" but they still fit too.  You have a hard time keeping socks on so we nerdily pull them up over your pants.  Sorry about that.  Your hair cracks me up with the front middle part thing you have going and it makes me think of Alfalfa from The Little Rascals.

You are really SUCH a good baby and you seem very content; you only cry if you're dirty or hungry for the most part.  You have lonnnng fingers on your sweet little hands and your arms and hands seem to have a mind of their own - you never know what to do with them.  Piano??  Basketball???

You look like you're going to have daddy's good skin coloring and you have dark blue eyes right now that we're pretty certain you're going to keep.  You have a million and 1 outfits that I can't wait to put you in and take 20 pictures of.  I snap way too many iPhone pics of you each day and usually e-mail or text at least 1 to daddy while he's at work.  You LOVE to be swaddled and that is how you sleep.  We're pretty much pros at it now, although some are better than others.

Karlyn, your daddy and I love you SO. MU CH. and thank God that He has given you to us.  We look at you and say, she is so pretty!  She is such a good baby!  We love our little family you have helped make and we are having a lot of fun having a DAUGHTER.  I can't believe how fast time has already gone and how fast you are growing.  The next few months are sure to be an adventure!

**Happy 1 Month!!!**

That is so sweet, Kati! Wish I would have written more things like this down for Makayla to read when she is older. I do have a zillion pics of her though, with descriptions, so at least she will have those. I'm so happy for you, and your precious family!!!
