I promised this post was coming.
Our day of registering!
It really was fun...and it seems like it was a while ago now. Ryan and I headed to Babies R Us, excited to pick out baby things for our little girl! Well, I was excited. ;> I told Ryan to have a good attitude, because this was something I'd been looking forward to. And he was a great sport! After we made a pit stop at the Pet Smart next door to check out the dogs they were selling (no we're not getting another one.) we seated ourselves at the BRU registry desk area to hear their spill on registering and retrieve our "gun."
We set out armed and dangerous and decided to conquer the store aisle by aisle. I had done some research on what to register for, brands, etc, but not a ton. I figured we'd just sorta figure it out. We started with the car seats/strollers. It was pretty funny. Trying to figure out what paired with what, pushing them around a bit. Then this maybe 20 year old male sales associate came to our rescue. He was seriously so helpful! He explained the stroller travel systems (what we ended up registering for) and the differences betweeen brands, types, etc, of strollers. We thanked him! We kept going...after a slight mishap where our gun wasn't working. New gun. We hit up the swings, pack n plays, bouncy seats. There were diaper bags, bumbo seats, bath tubs, and monitors. We aimed and fired. We tried not to look stupid and young. Ha ha. Ryan asked some question and I was like, "Sshh! Don't ask that so loud...people will think we don't know what we're doing." :--)
We wandered around the store for 2.5 hours and felt very accomplished once we were done. Anndd, worn out. Once I got home, I edited a couple of things we had chosen based on the customer reviews the product has gotten. Although sometimes that's hard when you have person "a" saying how much they LOOOOVED this product and person "b" bemoaning that they'd made this purchase.
We've also registered at Target! Only my favorite store ever. I did all this online though which was super easy! I wanted to do both places since Targets are *obviously awesome* and maybe more accessible to some people than Babies R Us. I edited our Target registry and added several more things on Friday when I got off work early...so fun!
I may not know everything there is to know about bottle brands, swaddling blankets, and baby thermometers, but I'm hoping some of my mom friends can fill me in on what they loved and found the most useful. And as my friend Sarah said, you learn as you go. You just figure it out! Because you have to. :>
Overall, it was a lot of fun and a great day. Here's the bedding we've chosen for the nursery! It should be arriving any day now! Can't wait!

I didn't even give Andrew a chance to go with me. I took a mommy friend with me and she was able to recommend all the stuff I'd need as a working mom (she's a teacher too). I did the same thing though, edited a bunch of stuff when I got home. It's so much fun!! We just ordered the crib and changing table on Thursday and it should be here soon. The bedding you picked out is PRECIOUS!! I love it!! :) So sweet for a baby girl!! :)
Wow, I'm impressed with Ryan staying in there with you for 2.5 hours! I remember Bryan being a pretty good sport about the whole registering thing, but I think we were finished in an hour or less! It is hard to know what to register for. You will get a lot of clothes, because everyone loves buying baby clothes. I didn't register for one piece of clothing, and that's what I got the most of at my showers! Plus, if you do register for clothes, by the time the showers roll around, the store may not even be selling that item anyway for people to purchase. I thought I was going to love the swaddling blankets with the velcro, but I didn't. They seemed to be a good idea, but Makayla always wiggled her way out of them. The regular little blankets worked much better. And we have a brand new pacifier thermometer that we were never able to use, because Makayla was/is very picky with her pacifiers. She wouldn't keep it in her mouth long enough for us to get a reading. I could probably go on and on about products, but I won't since this is your blog and not mine! LOL Glad you had fun registering!
I don't have a ton of input, since I'm not a Mommy-to-be (yet!), but one thing I will say is that the Dr. Brown's bottles are simply fantastic. They work so well with acid reflux because of the system they have going on with the bottle parts. They reduce the amount of air the babe intakes as well, so less gas! Who wouldn't say yes? :-)
I've used these with several of the babies I have nannied, and while they are a little more time-consuming to clean and sanitize, they are well worth it. I will definitely be registering for these when it's my turn!
Adorable bedding! You can paint the walls like that too, if you want:)
Sarah, I thought I had heard good things about those! I think I even registered for a couple :)
Rachael, I went to a shower yesterday and she got so. many. clothes!!!
OMG! That bedding is precious!
[...] nursery next Saturday. We have no plans and it would be the perfect day. But, that means my bedding needs to COME IN THIS NEXT WEEK. Seriously. I’m getting a little perturbed with the [...]
