Veggie Eats and New Stuff!

It's day 3 of "Meatless in March" and so far so good!  Here's some of what I've been eating:

taco salad! lettuce, tomato, olives, refried beans, cheese, tortilla chips, dressing!

no-bake protein bars! ryan and i both LOVE these!!

veggie "which-wich" sub and homemade red mashed p'taters  :->

oats.

I was a little iffy the first time I saw this in blogland but I just HAD to try it!  You do too.  IF you like oats and IF you like peanut butter and IF YOU LOVE THEM TOGETHER, try O.I.A.J.!!!  Wait until you have a mostly empty pb jar.  Whip up some oatmeal, stove-top or microwave, really doesn't matter.  Pour the oats in the jar.  Mix the pb in, leave it for last...be crazy.  It's crazy good!

This morning's recipe was: 1/3 c. old fashioned oats cooked in 1/3 c. milk, 1/3c. water, capful of vanilla, lotsa shakes of cinnamon, and raisins.  + agave!...into the pb jar.  oh yeah.

Lunch was the following at my desk:

veggies + rice blend + roasted red pepper soup. good and filling. and followed by a no-bake bar soon after :>

Ok enough of the food.  Let's get to the good stuff.  I got a new phone!  Ryan and I had been thinking about getting Iphones or Blackberrys and had gone to the AT&T store to see if we were due for an upgrade.  I was!  But Ryan has to wait till May :/  Anyyhoo, after a little research and talking to my phone loving co-worker I decided I wanted a Samsung Solstice.  And that's what I got!!  The good news is the AT&T store was selling it for $50.00 after a $50.00 rebate.  Being my mother's daughter though, I headed to Wal-mart to see if I could snag a better deal.  Soo glad I did because I got the phone I wanted for FREE!  I played with it all last night and really do like it!  It's a touch phone which is new to me and I can also use the internet easily.  In fact I checked my blog last night from bed.!  This could be bad... ;)  These pics aren't that great so I apologize.

yay for technology.!

I also got a few other new things today...1 book, 2 shirts, and some earrings.  I think I'm getting Spring Fever.  And I have b-day money coming I believe :)  Plus, I have really been wanting a new book to read!  Rockwall's new HALF PRICE BOOKS can't get here fast enough for me!!!

(per the back cover) this book is about 4 young wives in the late 1960's who begin to discover their love for writing!

pretty Spring colors!!!

Ok friends, I'm wrappin this up.  Ryan should be home any minute and I need to go put up the anniversary gift I bought him today!  One more week!!

So...do you like to read?  What are your favorite kinds of books?  Favorite authors?  Can you stay up all night reading, engrossed in a story or did you swear off all books after high school/college?

I plan to do a separate post on my favorite books later!

I'm gonna start "The Wednesday Sisters" tonight!  And nice.  Today IS Wednesday :>

I love that PB jar idea! And your veggie-wiches look great!I'm more of a bookworm than I can even put into words (as ironic as that may be). Hmm, there was the school year where I read 23,000 minutes, which was 22,000 minutes over the required amount...there was the summer when I was younger when I read 365 books in less than 3 months...there was the fact that as a child (up till about high school) I voluntarily set my alarm and woke up at 5:15am every day so that I could get in an hour and a half of reading before school...I could go on, but I think my extreme nerdiness has been well-established :P

I just did the "in a jar" thing for the first time with quinoa mousse and an almost empty peanut butter jar! So good! As for books, I am currently reading "My Life In France" by Julia Child. It's really good!

Hehe, yeah...so do you usually read modern/newer books, or do you like the classics too?
