Celebrating Moms

Today we celebrated moms

I went with my mom, sister Karoline, and my dad's mom to meet my mom's mom for a Mother's Day brunch at her church!  My aunt Leslie was also there with my cousin Kristena and her sweet daughter Katelyn.  We all squeezed in and sat around 1 table.  Breakfast foods of course were on the menu and there was a lot!  Veggies, fruit, egg and meat dishes, muffins, and all kinds of dessert.  I even got sent home with some of grandmother's signature coffee cake :>

My mom actually was one of the short speakers this morning and talked about funny things all of her kids have said over the years.  One of the stories she told was about my brother Kolton, (the youngest) and my sister Karoline.  Kolton was always using big words at an early age and even now at 11, thinks he's 20.  He's got 6 older brothers to copy!  Anyways, Kolton, Karoline and my dad were all in the garage cleaning and Kolton spotted a princess something or other my mom had bought for my sister but was going to save for Christmas.  Kolton knew Karoline might see it and he didn't want the surprise to be ruined.  He walked over to my dad and said,

"Hey dad, could I please have a word with you in private?"   lol.

My mom said my dad just started laughing and ended up throwing a tarp over Karoline's gift so that she wouldn't see it.  My mom did a great job speaking and also announced to the crowd, many of which were ladies she knew from growing up in that church, that she is going to be a grandmother is 7.5 months.!  She wrapped up her speech by saying that sometimes it's easy to get frustrated with your kids, and yes, there are going to be those challening, trying times.  But often, when she looks for the humor in situations or even hears her kids laughing together, that new energy comes.  She feels new strength to keep going.

MY MOM IS ONE AMAZING LADY!

She gave birth to 8 children and instilled in us values and character qualities that have carried us through our own life's twists and turns.  I love you mom and can only hope to be the mother to my children that you are to me

We took a few pictures outside afterwards.  I wish I would have gotten more!  But I didn't light the flourescent lighting inside...

I came home and my sweet husband had cleaned the house for me!  He's been working every Saturday for the past few months so I am SO ready to have him home again.  He even cleaned our shower!  Thank you, thank you, thank you.  It looks a million times better.  He had a partner in crime.
